Embracing the Essence of an Iconic Cultural Hub

Context

The Teatro Municipal do Porto, with its two hubs - Rivoli Theatre and Campo Alegre, has been a cornerstone of Porto, Portugal's cultural scene, presenting a multidisciplinary program that appeals to diverse audiences. Our task was to breathe new life into this iconic institution while honoring its rich heritage.

Challenge

Our challenge was to modernize the brand identity of Teatro Municipal do Porto, ensuring it remains relevant and appealing to contemporary audiences without losing its historical essence.

Solution

Drawing inspiration from the theatre's Art Deco style and the distinct shapes found within its architecture – such as the seating areas, circles, stage, and balcony – we crafted a design system that seamlessly integrates these structural elements. The result is a revitalized brand identity that honors the theatre's rich past while embracing the future, inviting audiences to experience the magic and wonder of the performing arts.
