Watersprite is one of the biggest student-led festivals in the world, it discovers and champions emerging filmmakers from around the world, inspiring and empowering young film talent and providing an inclusive space which nurtures future award-winning partnerships.

We partnered closely with the Watersprite team to help figuring out the tone that best fits their purpose, helping Watersprite to focus on what matters most: nurturing and empowering young talent in an inclusive space.

Afterwards we worked on explorations of the logo and identity system, and developed a friendly, warm and playful identity to bring Watersprite ethos and mission to life.

We also assisted in the festival strategy and event planing, and we're the festival official design sponsor.

We partnered closely with the Watersprite team to help figuring out the tone that best fits their purpose, helping Watersprite to focus on what matters most: nurturing and empowering young talent in an inclusive space.

Based on that premise, we developed an identity that truly express their mission, expressing the festival love and dedication to craft, transformation, nurturing and growth, in a kind and warm environment.

The direction we developed is based on the idea of Watersprite being the agent that causes a ripple or a change of state, starting as something small whose effects touch a much wider group than its original starting point as it grows, connecting a network of people from many different backgrounds. The growth and movement that such a ripple creates is always traceable back to the central point: the festival.

A warm and friendly direction inspired by cinema signage.

We defined an art direction based on playful, friendly and warm tones, developing a grid system inspired on the cinema signs usually found on cinema entrances.

The ellipse also plays a main role on Watersprite's identity, being the central element used to generate not only the water ripples but also a structural design element.

The shift in enthusiasm amongst our team that the brand made was palpable. The Onrepeat Studio team even came to give our Design team workshops in person. We basically felt like they were part of our team"

From start to end of the process, Onrepeat Studio were patient, engaged, highly creative, presented multiple options at every stage and most importantly, had impeccable communication skills. In fact, I wouldn’t say there was a finite end to the design process, because they remained involved with the festival, always willing to pick the phone if our designers had a question about working with their brand deliverables and always enthusiastic to help the new brand shine in different and unexpected contexts"

"We started the process slightly unclear about our objectives, and not only did Onrepeat help us clarify exactly what our festival brand was about, they also helped us incorporate all of the core elements while suggesting new and exciting directions."

"Whenever we felt we weren’t happy with a particular stage, they listened and understood our suggestions on a deeper level than just implementing practical changes - they clearly also understood how our vision of what the brand was shifting with the process and altered their designs to reflect our changing instincts"
